The Nintendo 3DS is out! Have you picked one up yet? Are you enjoying it? How do you like the 3D effect? I think it's mind blowing, personally, and many times better than what you see in the movie theaters. Here's a mock-up I made of what Minecraft could look like if it was ever made for 3DS. I'm sure the machine could handle it, but it's Notch's call if Mojang makes this dream game a reality, and he even thinks it's a great idea! [link]

Switching items around and crafting and these things would be handled on the touch screen. Moving and looking around would be done on the Circle Pad and with the Stylus Pen, respectively. Pressing and holding the 'L' button would break the block in front of you, while tapping the 'L' button would place a block down. Jumping would be handled Metroid Prime Hunters style. Double tap anywhere on the touchscreen to jump.

The fantastic and brand new Minecraft logo would be displayed at the top of the bottom screen at all times, with the bouncing phrase changing every time you pause, or every time there's a day/night transition. Maybe it could change anytime you put the system in sleep mode.

StreetPass functionality would include swapping character skins, and statistics like how many monsters you've killed, how many blocks you've destroyed and placed, and how long you've played in total.

There could even be a built in editor for creating your own character skin!

Insert it into the folder 'DCIM\100NIN03' (This folder may have a slightly different name on your SD card than it does on mine, and will only appear if you've taken a picture with your 3DS).

View it in the Photo Viewer! Be sure to let me know what you think afterward! Maybe with some support this game could actually get made! After all, how nice would it be to finally own a real physical copy of Minecraft?

EDIT #1:
Yukiiko has pointed out that holding down L to build would be troublesome when attacking monsters. Tapping the button to attack would place a block down as soon as monsters jump off of the cursor!

To fix this issue, tapping 'L' while a monster is on your cursor (as long as it has noticed you) will switch you to your weapon automatically, but only as long as you have one in your tool belt already. The game would judge your distance from the monster and check the amount of arrows in your backpack. If the monster is close it picks your sword, but if it's far enough away it will pick up a bow instead. Maybe the bow could be used if you click on an enemy that hasn't noticed you yet?

A second fix would involve the ability to swap out and select different items while the game is paused. Has a zombie startled you? No problem! Pause the game and select your sword, then get right back into the action! This solution would resolve issues with the first one, such as which sword the game would choose to select if you have two swords of differing strengths.
